My Love

I am so proud of you my beautiful daughter! You are so smart and so charismatic! You are nearly 19 months old now and as spirited as ever! You have such a strong personality and you are constantly trying to boss Mama. I remember you bossing Mama as I nursed you at 3 months old. We work on your will regularly. You are quick to recieve correction and move forward. You stomped your foot in anger at me yesterday. Your mind wants to do things your body cannot yet do. Just today, I asked you to point out the colors of blocks. There are four colors on our blocks - red, yellow, green and blue. Your correctly pointed at each one. Yesterday you really started pronouncing "mine". We work on sharing daily. Great Grandma and Great Grandad are here visiting and you can pronounce their names well. You love to be tickled and to play peek-a-boo. You told me a few days ago that you wanted to wear your shirt with the giraffes on it. I am not sure how to write the way you say "giraffe" but ask me and I will tell you. Too cute! You love blueberries and bananas. You always want yogurt and cottage cheese for lunch. Sometimes I give you a cashew butter and jelly sandwich and you like that too. You really like to play at children's church. The other day, I had a meeting at the church so we met in the childrens' room so you could play (you usually run to play on the tumbling mat and rarely look back). That day, you wanted to sit on my lap and kiss me instead of playing. I loved every bit of it! I can't wait to blow up the pool we just bought you! It has a water slide and a huge giraffe spraying water on the slide. You saw the picture on the box and got excited. I can't wait to see how excited you will be when you see the thing set up!

I just wanted to share a bit with you since it had been a while. I love you Sweet Pea! Your will always be my baby!!!

Promised pics

Getaway materials...

I had to post one of the happy couple...

Here is one of the food...

Another one (which I love because the groomsmen make my food look good!)...

Salads...

Salads, fruit, drinks...

Whew... I think I can finally sit down

I don't have any pics to post yet since my camera battery is dead from taking a ton of shots. I will get to that later today. I think I can take a rest after a completely busy but splendid first few weeks of May.

I felt a sudden shift as I began to feel redefined in April. I started this blog amongst other creative ventures I never really had the mojo to do. I have always had creative ideas but never had the stick-to-it-iveness to get things done which did not have looming deadlines. Now that I am a SAHM, I have had the inspiration but also the feet under these ideas to get them walking.

Starting May, I picked up my very part time catering position at the Rock, I excitedly volunteered to design for the Women's Getaway, and I catered my first wedding for my beautiful step-sister, Jennifer. Mother's Day was tucked in there nicely, too. I had been easing my way into the catering job until the Getaway stuff and the wedding were finished. I have heard nothing but rave reviews on the Getaway (I sadly could not attend because I had the wedding). I got props from Women's Director (and one of my best friends) Stephanie in front of the women on the materials I designed. And finally, I think the wedding turned out beautiful! I think Jen was pleased with how things turned out, too.

So... I am a happy girl! I had some big projects and I feel they all have turned out! It feels great to put your hand to something and have it work out. And now... I think I can rest... for now. And focus on my primary love and duty - Mommyhood!

Mother's Day

I hope y'all had an amazing Mother's Day! I must say I was surprised and truly blessed! I feel blessed because I have the best husband and daughter a girl could want! I can not imagine life without them.

Mother's day morning we got up and ready and headed to one of our favorite places for breakfast, Sweetie Pies. They have delish french toast with ollalaberries. We did not have to wait long to get in and we had fun. Evelina enjoyed sharing her eggs and sausage with her Noah's Ark Giraffes. I sipped my coffee and savored my french toast. Matthew was a bit more adventurous and ordered a chile rilleno cassarole. Let's just say he is going to stick to pancakes next time. I thought it wasn't bad but he had a hard time with the texture of the eggs.

We had a wonderful time!

Daddy gave her some whipped cream! Oh Happy!

And this is the only picture of me on Mother's Day that turned out. Turned out meaning not blurry. Definately not good, but not blurry. This is typical when I try to get pictures of me. My kids will look back through our photos and say, "Mom, why do all of the pictures of you look RETARDED?" I will just have to respond, "Sweetheart, the reason is because Mommy is retarded."

And now... the moment we have all been waiting for - the gift! I love gifts and so I was very excited to recieve one! Matthew gave me 2 cards - one from him and one from Evelina. Both were adorable. One even looked like my header on Splendid Wren. He had E write something in her card which is stinkin cute! He then gave me a wrapped box (bonus points for a wrapped gift) which held a gift set of Burts Bees products. I heart Burts Bees so I was thrilled. He then gave me another box which he wrapped with a picture of E. No joke... here is what was inside:

I was so surprised! I've wanted an ipod but we just have not the money for anything extra. I almost jumped up and did a little dance but I think I was just too stunned. Matthew has really learned that he likes getting me gifts almost as much as I like getting them. He is not the type to bring me home stuff all of the time and that is just fine with me. But, on holidays, he definately has gotten good at picking stuff for me.

Well, I will sign off for now. God bless Moms!

PS- Did I forget to mention that I hurt my baby twice today? In the spirit of being a good mom, I first closed her double chin in her seatbelt. As she screamed in agony, I then pulled her out of the seat to console her and bashed her head against the car. Yeah... we were both crying before the day really got started. Her, because of pain and me, because of guilt.

pigtails, pansies, and popcicles

Since I have yet another cold this year, my mom was so kind and helped get Evelina going this morning. Which incidentally included a hair makeover. It is really funny to see her look so different. I usually don't put up all of her hair when I put it up. Or should I day, when she doesn't pull out whatever I put in her hair that day. She almost looks like a different baby. Definately still cute, I just am not used to it.

Because holding ladybugs and sniffing pansies is so much work, she took a much needed rest. She is taking a break with her popcicle and I, though sick, am helping my mom pull weeds. I will not go into just how much help I was but I was company none the less.

First popcicle...

One of the best things about living with my mom is enjoying her beautiful yard. Evelina and I play outside everyday. Evelina loves to run around and explore.

I got these popcicle cups at Ikea last week and I just knew Evelina would have fun with a popcicle. As a kid, I loved getting popcicles when it was hot, after playing outside. She thoroughly enjoyed it. As a parent, one of the greatest joys is seeing your child really enjoy something. It is even sweeter when they enjoy something simple.
